When Arbonne found me, I was not looking for a new business. In fact, I had never heard of Arbonne and was on my way to a leadership training with another network marketing company. Network marketing is a smart and family-friendly way to earn an income, however, I was working progressively harder each year to make the same earnings.

Our family had all of the basic needs, although my husband, Tony, and I both wanted a future with more financial security. We wanted the ability to help others and handle the unexpected. Recognizing that baby boomers were bringing opportunities to the marketplace, my husband and I investigated several options for him to focus on them. We looked at home health care franchises and even considered relocating to join an orthopedic joint company. During this search, I had been asking for guidance and should have been struck by lightning when my response to the answer of “Arbonne” was, “Oh come on, did it really have to involve me and makeup?” The answer was a resounding “yes.” Four-and-a-half months later, I reached RVP.

Arbonne is the right company, in the right market, at the right time. This is the only explanation for a company that has grown so much in the last four years in an ever-expanding network marketing industry. My sponsor, RVP Donna McPheeters, knew I would have misgivings about Arbonne and quickly told me to “focus on the business.” Several things caught my attention. First, I found it very intriguing that Donna, a professional recruiter in the IT industry, would choose Arbonne over a renewed contract with her recruiting firm. Secondly, Arbonne has a diversified product line with six categories of products to keep the company growing. It also has the financial backing of Harvest Partner’s International and a great management team. All of these factors point to a very promising future for Arbonne and the potential for financial growth of those involved.

I quickly realized Arbonne is not about promoting one product, or product line; it is about promoting a better way of life through its products and the possible lifestyle Arbonne can provide. On our team, we joke that we look for men and women who are business-minded to join us in this business. Executives are typically big-picture people and are better at keeping the business in mind. The business-minded do not worry if everyone can use all of the Arbonne products. Arbonne’s pure, safe and beneficial products are phenomenal and sell themselves. We can focus on the business side of Arbonne and build a team of consumers concerned about their well being and their potential income, beyond any specific product, or misconception about this type of marketing. Network marketing is a sophisticated, acceptable way to do business, and has the potential to provide a huge reward for invested time and energy. Get over your misgivings and instead, roll up your sleeves, get to work and focus on making a dream, or two, come true with Arbonne.

It is great helping others build their teams, giving them the possibility of financial security and hearing how they plan to serve others, from supporting mission trips, to helping aging parents, paying for college or helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Some will have the possibility to make Arbonne their full-time income source and give themselves the potential for time freedom to invest in areas that matter most to them. It is not about the money; it is about a better way of life. The possibilities are endless.

No one achieves success alone, and I have so many to thank. Thanks to my husband, Tony, for evaluating Arbonne and pointing out there was nothing to lose. Thanks for supporting me and carrying more than your load at home. Thanks for being my best cheerleader and leading many to my team. Now, having led more to me than I could handle, you have built your own team, and as of September, are a DM. Since it is hard to get behind the wheel of my Mercedes-Benz, you simply need to earn your own. I love you.

To my kids, Jerod and Hannah: Thank you for being patient while mom listens to one more training call and goes to one more meeting. Thanks for the sacrifices you made these last few months while I grew my business. Hopefully, the fun memories we will be able to make because of Arbonne will make everything worthwhile.

To my first Consultant, DM Lynn Gourley: Thanks for your support and for trusting me enough to jump right in with me. I enjoy watching your team grow and cannot wait to take a ride in your Mercedes-Benz convertible some day soon.
