“Take a step into the unknown, be willing to learn, and celebrate others.”
As a wife and mom, I have been blessed to be able to stay home and care for my husband and children for the past 11 years. It has also been a blessing to work in the ministry with my husband for over 18 years, five of which we have served as Senior Pastor and First Lady. While totally committed to God, my family, our church and, particularly, my women’s ministry, I was content in serving my children and helping my husband in whatever capacity was needed in the ministry. I had no problem serving and being in the background, but I did have a fear of speaking and being in the forefront. That was not my comfort zone, although I knew I was being called to leave it.
It is often our challenges and inadequacies that ignite our passion to see others overcome their challenges and walk in their destinies. Our weaknesses become our strength. I have often heard that when you begin your own business, you should choose something that you love and that you could do without ever getting paid for it. For me, I have always had the desire to own my own business. I have dabbled in many business ventures over the years and nothing seemed to be a perfect fit. Arbonne began to write a new chapter in my life. I had no idea of the turn my life was about to take.
As I am penning my NVP Eye on Arbonne, I think on how this whole journey has taught me patience and that the race is not given to the swift or to the strong, but is given to the one who endures to the end. It is given to the one who builds their business on integrity. At the end of the day, it is our word and our integrity that will last. This journey is for those who are willing to commit to building a business on a solid foundation with great morals. Although my journey began pretty swiftly, I have learned many lessons along the way. It is a growth process and our President Rita Davenport eloquently states it best. This is a personal development company disguised as a skin care company. It is easy to get to the top but it takes character and integrity to keep you there. There have been ups and downs in my business, but it has all worked together for my good to achieve the desired end that I cannot know. I can only share with you my beginning, the in between and the road that has allowed me to meet so many wonderful people and provided me with the opportunity to attain some accomplishments.
While I was attending a football game, my friend, ERVP Marie-Yolaine Williams, told me that she wanted to share an exceptional opportunity with me. I was open and receptive, wanting to hear more about this company called Arbonne. After attending my first meeting on October 10, 2005, I signed up as a Consultant the next day. Within two weeks of my first Presentation on October 22, I had signed up my first four business builders. Since then, my team has exploded and the momentum we generated was unbelievable. I was promoted rapidly to District Manager and was in qualification for Area Manager by the end of October. One of my first four business builders, Audrey Tolson, found her four business builders in four days. My four had their four in a period of four days to three months. I tried to duplicate everything my sponsor, ERVP Marie-Yolaine Williams, suggested. Duplication is the name of the game. Our Atlanta team has been totally phenomenal. I could not have achieved promoting to National Vice President without each of your contributions. Thank you for trusting and believing in me and in the journey Arbonne was taking us on. It took each of you to get the word out and introduce Arbonne to Atlanta.
Arbonne has awakened skills and talents that had been lying dormant. People say to me that they never knew I could talk so much. How can I not tell everyone I meet about Arbonne’s great products? How can I not share of the wonderful opportunities Arbonne has brought my way? How can I not share with others the dynamic leadership team and endless opportunities they provide? How can I not share of the wonderful Consultants I have met since I joined Arbonne and the testimonies we have shared? I often say that Arbonne is not just about the potential for financial blessings, but it is also about personal development. I have grown personally, spiritually and mentally, over the last year and a half. If you are reading this and wondering if this is for you, you will not know until you step out and give it a try. If you are looking for something different then you have to do something different. You cannot do the same things expecting different results. We are ordinary people with extraordinary opportunities. My desire and passion in life is to help others in whatever capacity I can and see them fulfill their purpose and walk in the call upon their lives. This is the most rewarding aspect of this business. It is joyous to see a twinkle of hope in someone’s eye that was not there before. The mother that has a desire to stay at home with a small child, a father that can now take his family on vacations, a single mom that has just divorced and feels she cannot provide for her children. Whatever your desire is, Arbonne is a vehicle that has the potential to make your desires a reality. Be willing to make a commitment for at least three years. Be willing to learn everything you can about the network marketing industry and Arbonne. And most importantly, be willing to build your business on a solid foundation with integrity. Arbonne gives you all the tools to win! It is now up to you.
The ministry I was called to is women’s ministry. We, as women, are diverse in culture, size and background. Even our gifts and talents vary. However, no matter who we are, we all are subject to a refining process through which we emerge as diamonds and rubies. My Arbonne experience is refining me by teaching me to step out and be the best I can be. It has taught me to dream and know that whatever I desire to do I can achieve.
To my husband, Jesse III: You have been the love of my life for 20 years. Thank you for being my best friend and biggest supporter. I appreciate your patience as God continues to prepare me for His purpose. Thank you for being a wonderful example of a husband, father, pastor and a man of integrity after God’s own heart. The best is yet to come. I love you.
To my children, Jesse IV, Jiana and Jené: You have brought so much joy to my life, each with your own special gifts and personalities. I am proud of each of you and your many accomplishments. I love and thank you for supporting mommy in her Arbonne business. I know by now you could tell your own story of Arbonne.
To my parents, George and Janice Pope: Thank you for always being here for me and believing in me. You have encouraged me to press forward and strive for the best.
To President Rita Davenport: After NTC 2006 St. Louis, I will never be the same. You made me laugh and cry. We captured your compassion and your heart. You left us feeling like we could accomplish anything.
To my upline, ERVP Marie-Yolaine Williams: I am grateful that you presented me with the gift of Arbonne and am privileged to be one of your four. You are a great leader and a pioneer. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement, and for believing in me until I could believe in myself. To ERVP Wendy Ellin – thank you for taking the time to help me organize my Arbonne business, ERVP Kimberly Hallum for your cards and encouragement. To ENVPs Jill LaVilla, Bonnie Futrell, RVP Price Futrell and ENVP Jan Kilic: Your testimonies have inspired me. Thank you for your support and many lessons.
To my fabulous four, AM Rhea Triche, AM Audrey Tolson, DM Phebee Henderson and my sister, DM Geornette Jackson: You all are awesome leaders. Thank you for all of your encouragement. It is such an honor to be in business with all of you. I cannot wait to see the end of the story. This team is blessed. Your Mercedes-Benz presentations are close at hand, and then on to ENVP. To my friend, DM Phebee Henderson: You always told me that if I change one thing, it would change everything. You were right. Your wisdom, love and friendship are something I will always treasure. My relationships with all of my four business builders were founded before my husband and I stepped out on faith to begin our ministry. Thank you all for stepping out in faith with me again. Little did we know the magnitude of what was in store for us. This has definitely been the vehicle to help make our dreams a reality. When you are passionate about something fueled by determination, trust in your faith and watch the impossible become reality.
To my entire Curney Nation: Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. It is rewarding to see how each of you and your families are being blessed. I could not have gotten to RVP without your commitment and belief in me and in this great business. I count it a privilege to work with each of you. You are the cream of the crop. You have shown me how much fun work can be. Each step you take is already ordered and I cannot wait to celebrate with each of your promotions to National Vice President. Have faith, trust and belief in yourself. To ERVP Chimain Douglas AMs Lori Twitty-Amos, Renee Mack Jones, Janice Cass, Brenda Bell and Shalonda Pettis, DMs Pam Snowden, Yolanda Kirk, Iris linn Morris, Janel Bowles, Rebecca Christian Smith, Queen Watson, Upenda Dubose, and Aleta Gardner: Your determination will be the key to you achieving your desired goal. And to RVP Felicia Brown: Thank you for sticking with me through the thick and the thin with your commitment and dedication to excellence. To RVP Sandi Underwood, thanks for the unforgettable moments we shared at the ACE Awards.
To my Houston Team: Sharon Warren, Doris Thompkins, Cassandra Scott, Pam Patterson and Janice Petterson – You have shown me why you are called “Superstars”!
To my Chicago Team: AM Alexis Felder, DM’s Jamila Thomas and Angela Smith, Consultants Karen Swinger, Sandra Broomfield and Pauline Saunders – Its been a pleasure working with you and I look forward to celebrating your journey to the top!
To RVP Sandi Underwood, thanks for the unforgettable moments we shared at the ACE Awards.
Most importantly, I would like to thank God for loving me, molding me and guiding me through my life. He is the reason I live and move. I am reminded that all things work together for the good of us who love Him and are called to His great purpose.
